Far Cry 6: How to Play Co-op Multiplayer

Far Cry 6 is available now on most major platforms, including Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Stadia, and offers players over 50 additional hours of mayhem to spawn at their own discretion. Players wondering how to play Far Cry 6 cooperative multiplayer, however, may be scratching their heads.

In this quick guide, we'll walk you through how Far Cry 6's co-op multiplayer works, so you don't waste time following a friend around all of Yara.

How to play co-op multiplayer in Far Cry 6

When you start the game, you'll have to play single player for a little while before the co-op system reveals itself. As Dani Rojas, you'll avoid the military contingent and wash up on the shore of a small island south of your neighborhood.

Play through the story missions (marked with yellow diamonds on your map and listed as Operations in the Journal menu) until you come to the mission named "Du or Die" on Isla Santuario, the first island where you arrive after disembarking.

Depending on how much you explore and complete side missions, getting to this point will take you anywhere from 2-5 hours on average, but if you're in a rush, just stick to the critical path and you'll land on the lower end of that estimate.

Once you have completed Du or Die, you will receive a notification on the right side of the screen indicating that multiplayer is now available.

To access the mode, pause the game anywhere and click on the square icon with the two white silhouettes in the upper right corner (it is not available in the map submenu). A new menu will appear, allowing you to play with a friend, search for a partner, and make yourself available to be someone else's partner.

Alternatively, if you want a co-op partner and can't find one in your friend group, you can use system-side options such as Xbox's party finder feature, or comparable systems on other platforms, and request a teammate there. .

Please note that you cannot define yourself as a partner and search for partners at the same time. You can also search only for a partner or make yourself available for search while reading the story; you can't do that when you're supporting special ops.

Once you're in a co-op game, you and your partner can play the entire game together, including main missions, side missions, and open-world activities like hunting and fishing. If you've played Far Cry 5 co-op, you're already familiar with this system because it returns identically.

By playing in these missions, you will earn Moneda, a currency used by black market vendors such as Lola. You can spend Moneda to buy spinning weapons, charms, or crafting materials like industrial circuits.
