Forza Horizon 5 Drift Zones and How to Unlock Them

Forza Horizon 5's Drift Zones bring back a classic challenge from the previous game, but unlocking them will take some work. These challenges offer a chance to earn big points for accolades and other unlockables, so it's worth spending some Horizon Adventure Points. If you're wondering how to unlock drift zones, it's time to party.

Forza Horizon 5 Drift Zones and How to Unlock Them

Drift Zones are a type of PR stunt, but you can't unlock them right away. The PR stunts only unlock after completing the first chapter of Horizon Adventure, the Gran Caldera Expedition. This opens once you've completed a few races, even if you're not particularly good at it.

After completing the Caldera Expedition, you are free to choose where the next Horizon Outpost should go. The Baja region is the closest, but it only unlocks speed tests and traps.

Instead, spend your Adventure Points in the Canyon region to unlock the Full Moon Party. If you don't pay attention to the map, the animation is a bit deceiving. The Canyon Expedition is not in the north where the canyon icon is. Instead, you'll travel to the far eastern coast and the area shown in the image above to start the party.

This expedition is pretty straightforward and just lets you navigate a chariot through a parade. Once done, you can spend your points to unlock the area's PR stunts: Drift Zones.

Drift Zone Tips

Forza Horizon 5 Drift Zones and How to Unlock Them

Drift Zones are marked as red challenges on the Forza Horizon 5 world map, and like Speed Zones, you'll need to stay in the marked zone to avoid being kicked out of the challenge.

It will likely take several tries to determine which car is best for you when tackling drift zones. Some players recommend using fast cars, like sports cars, because their handling makes it easier to drift. However, I found it easier to control the drift with slightly heavier cars and had success with the Ford Bronco.

Whatever you choose, make sure the stability control is turned off, as it limits your ability to drift.

Forza Horizon 5 offers around 20 drift zone challenges. You'll earn Accolade Points based on your performance, so it's worth clearing them if you want to unlock more Expeditions and Challenges faster.
