Pokémon Go is kicking off the new year with a bang with its Mountains of Power event, a continuation of the Season of Heritage story. During this week-long event, which will run from January 7, 2022 at 10 a.m. to January 13, 2022 at 20 p.m., there will be plenty of bonuses, rare Pokémon encounters, and an all-new research path to discover.
Mountains of Power Event Features
Here's the full list of what we can expect when the Mountains of Power event begins on January 7th.
Bonus
- 1/2 Walk Distance: From now on, the only bonus during this event is that the walk distance requirements will be halved. You will only have to walk 1km to win a heart with your buddy instead of two (depending on your buddy's friendship level)!
Search
- Timed Research: The Legacy Season Timed Research continuation so far will focus on players catching Pokémon, hatching Eggs, and earning Buddy Candy. Completing tasks in the Timed Research will reward players with Mawile and Beldum encounters.
- Field Research: Performing Field Research during the event will reward players with encounters with Mawile, Alolan Geodude, and Slugma.

Wild encounters
- Common Pokémon: Several rare Pokémon will be encountered much more often in the wild. Here is the list of Pokémon that we will see most often:
- Toothed
- machop
- Geodude
- Slugma
- nose pass
- barbecue
- Rare Pokémon: Certain Ultra Rare Pokémon will also appear more often.
