Rainbow Six Extraction Healing Explained: How to Heal Operators

When engaging with hostile Archaeans in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction, it's inevitable that your Operator will take damage, and you'll need to know how to heal lest your Operator go MIA. Unlike other shooters, where taking cover and catching your breath somehow heals all your wounds, R6E makes health a precious and limited resource.

Recovering your HP as an operator requires a specific action on your part. This Rainbow Six Extraction guide tells you everything you need to know about how to heal, what the different colors mean on your health bar, and more.

Basic Health Explained

Health in R6E comes in two varieties. All operators start with 100 points of their base health, represented by the white part of the health bar. This number reflects their “true” vitality. If it drops to zero, your carrier will crash and will need to be reactivated or recovered on a future excursion.

This health cannot be recovered during a mission. Damage to your base value persists in future missions, and all Operators below 25% health are knocked out and unavailable until their health recovers.

Base health is recovered by performing incursions. Once extracted from a mission, you will receive HP based on your performance. This value is then added to each operator, raising them up to the maximum of 100 points. Points are not split; everyone receives the same amount. So if you gain 30 health, each character will receive up to 30 HP.

Health boost explained

The health boost is another story. By default, Operators begin raids with 50 bonus health, represented by the blue portion of the health bar. All damage received comes from bonus health before base health. This is important, as health bonuses can be picked up when raiding via pickups and abilities. Boosts decay slowly over time, and do not persist from incursion to incursion.

Scattered around most levels are Medkits. They can be found randomly in each sub-area and are usually located in the airlocks between sections. Picking up a health pack grants an immediate 70 health bonus. It's awesome, and multiple Medkits can stack. Keep in mind that you cannot exceed 200 total health (base and boost combined).

Some operators have abilities that can apply a health boost. Doc has Health Shots, which apply a boost to nearby Operators or himself. Finka has an adrenal crisis. It's an instant boost for the whole team, but only for a limited time.

Finally, there is the anabolic accelerator. This is a level 4 tech item unlocked once you reach progression level 18. Equip it in your loadout, and each time your health drops, it will slowly regenerate the health buff up to until you return to 50 combined health.

Keeping your Operators healthy is one of your most important tasks in R6E. The last thing you want is for your favorite characters to go MIA, forcing you to go on a rescue mission.
