Subnautica Diamonds: Best Place to Find Them

Where do you find diamonds in Subnautica? This is a question I asked myself for a long time when I started playing a few years ago. Luckily, they're pretty easy to catch if you know where to look.

Diamonds are a key crafting ingredient in Subnautica. They are used to craft the Laser Cutter, Reinforced Diving Suit and Gloves, Mod Station, and Mobile Vehicle Bay. They are also used to upgrade the Seamoth and Prawnsuit.

The sooner you know how and where to find them, the better.

Subnautica Diamonds: Best Place to Find Them

Many biomes on the Subnautica map have diamonds, but the best (and safest) place to find them is Mountain Island.

You can reach the Mountain Island at any point in your game, though you'll eventually get there as part of the critical path. It is located to the north, northeast of Lifepod 5. If you don't have the compass, build it using the fabricator. This will make it easier to find, as the island is shrouded in fog until you approach it.

Dive around the island and look for shale outcrops. You can find shale on the edges of the beach near the alien complex on the other side of the island. You can also find underwater outcrops, attached to the sides of the mountain. The caves under the mountain also have shale which could contain diamonds.

The most problematic enemy in this area is the warper, which will push you away from the shale if you're not careful.

More dangerous areas surrounding the Mountain Island, including the Underwater Islands, Mushroom Forest, and Blood Kelp Area are also worth exploring. Watch out for Bone Sharks, Mesmers, and Crawling Leviathans in these areas.

Diamonds in other biomes

You can also find diamonds in other places. As long as you dive deep enough, you have a chance of finding this valuable crafting resource in shale outcrops.

How to Generate Diamonds

If you prefer to generate diamonds and not search for them, you can do so using the debug menu and this cheat Subnautica: item diamond 1. You can enter any value in the number box (like 5, 10, 100 ) to get the desired number of diamonds.

Although you can only carry as many diamonds as you have space in your inventory, the pile of diamonds you generate will stay in one place until you take them all. You can come back to them again and again until they are exhausted.

Open debug menu for console commands

To bring up the console command menu and enter the cheat on PC, press "F3". The debug menu will appear in the upper left corner of the screen. Then press "F8". Uncheck the round button in the upper left part of the debug menu. Now press "Enter" and type the command. Press "Enter" again to bring up the diamonds.

Luckily, it's a lot easier on console. On Xbox One, press LB + A + RB. On PS4, press L1 + X + R1. Enter the command and press "A" or "X".
