Monster Hunter Rise offers a wide variety of monsters to hunt. These creatures populate the many open areas of the game, and each opponent behaves uniquely. Some monsters are nervous, while others are aggressive. The Tigrex falls into the latter category, as this Flying Wyvern easily attacks anyone who gets too close. One wrong move can mean the end for any unprepared hunter, so make sure you don't get killed while studying your opponent. Here are Tigrex's weaknesses, resistances, and drop rates.
All Tigrex Weaknesses
Tigrex Elemental Weakness
Tigrex's main weakness is his dislike of thunder weapons. Be sure to bring weapons of this element for an advantage in battle. Dragon weapons are a strong second option, although slightly weaker than thunder. Water Gear is a decent third option, but it takes a significant damage drop from the above items. Ice should be your last resort, as it does not damage the Tigrex. Avoid using firearms on Tigrex. They are very ineffective in combat.
Those with thunder weapons should focus their attacks on the Tigrex's head and front leg to deal the most damage. Dragon element users should aim for the head, abdomen, back, and tail, and water and ice users are best positioned to attack the front leg.

Location damage | Cutting damage | Impact damage | Shooting damage |
---|---|---|---|
Lead | 65 | 70 | 55 |
Foreleg | 50 | 45 | 35 |

- If you're using a sharp weapon, focus on the head or front legs.
- If you're using a blunt weapon, focus on the head.
- If you're using an archery/shooting weapon, focus on headshots.
Resistances and ailments of the Tigrex
Those aiming to inflict ailments on Tigrex should use Blast or Thunderblight for the best results. Blast and Thunderblight are reliable ways to damage this boss with ailments. All other types of ailments can impact Tigrex but are weaker than those previously mentioned.
Tigrex Drop Rate - Cut, Capture & Break
Depending on your quest, you can get different rewards for forging armor and weapons, but each has a drop rate percentage, ultimately RNG. It's pure luck what you get.
- There are several ways to get items
- You can prune three times once the monster is dead.
- You can capture the monster instead of killing it.
- Or sculpt said monster's broken appendage.
- To loot the drops from the monster
- After successfully completing your quest
Most monsters have breakable parts, and Tigrex is no different. Players can break off the Tigrex's claw, head, and tail with enough pressure. If you manage to break these pieces during the hunt, you will earn additional rewards after completing the quest.
