Genshin Impact 2.4 ends things with a bang, adding a few new limited-time events to help players out until the 2.5 update. One such event set to appear soon is Eight Locations Over Mountains and Seas, in which the Traveler and Paimon will lend a tanuki a little help in exploring the land of Teyvat. And great rewards, such as Primogems and Ascension Materials, can be obtained by everyone who participates.
The opportunity to take part in this tanuki tale won't last long once it begins, so you'll need to act fast to get your hands on the event's nifty prizes. To help you, we've gathered all the information you'll need about this upcoming expedition. Here is the Eight Locales Over Mountains and Seas event and how to unlock it.
Eight locations over mountains and seas
Eight Locales Over Mountains and Seas will run from February 4-14, giving participants ten days to fulfill the tanuki request and complete the event. The tasks given to you by the tanuki will include taking him to see Teyvat's sights and taking photos, expanding his horizons and building up a collection of endearing memories along the way. To participate in this journey, however, you will need to unlock it.

How to unlock
You will be able to start the Eight Locations Over Mountains and Seas event by speaking with bake-danuki Ioroi, as long as you have met a few prerequisites. To participate in this quest from February 4, first make sure you have completed the following:
- Reach Adventure Rank 30
- You have completed the quest Chapter II: Act I – The Immutable God and the Eternal Euthymia Archon.
- Complete the World Quest for Sakura's Sacred Purification Ritual
Once these requirements are met, head to Ioroi in Chinju Forest on Narumaki Island. He will ask the Traveler and Paimon to help the eccentric tanuki Kichiboushi venture out of the forest and discover other parts of Teyvat. Simply accept this task to start the event.
Eight Locales Over Mountains and Seas has a total of seven routes to complete, with a new route unlocked each day during the event. Kichiboushi will ask the traveler to complete various tasks in each route, giving you the chance to earn some pretty nifty rewards with each completed request.
Event Rewards
Every time you help Kichiboushi achieve his goal, he will give you some very handy items in return. 30 Primogems can be obtained each time a route is completed, for a total of 210 Primogems at the end of the event. Some of the other rewards that can be obtained during Eight Locations Above Mountains and Seas are as follows:

- Various weapon ascension materials
- Various talent-IP level materials
- Serenitea Pot furniture exclusive to the event
Keep in mind that Eight Locations Above Mountains and Seas will only be available for a limited time and event-exclusive items cannot be obtained after the event ends. You definitely won't want to miss Kichiboushi's original adventure, so be sure to join in on February 4!
