Sinnoh is infamous for having a very small pool of Fire Pokémon. In fact, the total number of fire types you can get before fighting the Elite Four can be counted in one hand. Among those available is Magby. Magby evolves into Magmar at level 30, then into Magmortar when swapped with a Held Magmarizer.

Where to find Magby in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Unfortunately, before Hall of Fame, Magby is only available in Shining Pearl. You can find Magby on Route 227 and Stark Mountain, both of which are east of the Survival Zone. If you have reached Champion status in Brilliant Diamond, you can find Magby in the same places.

If your starter is not Chimchar, it is highly recommended to add a Ponyta or Magby to your team.
Best nature and moves for Magby
Try catching a Hasty Magby for that nice speed boost. A Lonely Magby is also good, as its upgradable lines learn a lot of attacking physical shooting moves like Fire Punch and Flare Blitz. For Gyms, Magmortar teaches Fire Spin and Fire Blast, both of which you should keep.
