Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl feature a total of 493 Pokémon to choose from when building your team, so deciding which Pokémon you want and what types you want can be tricky. Fire Pokémon are rare, and for those of you who didn't choose Chimchar because Turtwig is the best choice, your next best hope is Ponyta.
To find Ponyta in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl you will need to head to routes 206, 210, 211, 214 or 215. Ponyta can be found in all of these routes although it can be found the earliest and lowest level in Route 206.

Fire is a great guy to have on your team and if you haven't selected Chimchar as your starter, you'll want to grab Ponyta. Both Ponyta and its evolution Rapidash are Pokémon. Their speed and attack will make them a good sweeper on your team.
You don't necessarily need a Fire-type Pokemon, but you should definitely consider Rapidash. In addition to fire-type moves, he can learn a variety of different moves that will help with cover. Moreover, Rapidash has an amazing design.
