The Lantern Rite Festival is an annual special event in Genshin Impact, filled to the brim with fun mini-games and amazing rewards for players. Everyone who participated in the first festival had the opportunity to receive unique prizes, such as new business card styles and Crown of Insight ascension gear. On top of that, it was quite easy for players to earn a hefty amount of Primogems.
The best part of the first Lantern Rite Festival, however, was something completely unexpected for fans: the opportunity to get a free four-star Liyue character of their choice. Players simply had to participate in the event, earn Peace Talismans, and then exchange the Talismans they had earned in the limited-time Stand by Me store for a new character.

The second annual Rite of Lanterns Festival seems to be setting a tradition, bringing back the chance for players to collect a free four-star Liyue character of their choice. The roster of available characters is a bit larger this time around, however, including two more roster faces for fans to choose from. The eight four-star characters that will be available during the event are:
- Xiangling
- Beidou
- Xing Qiu
- ningguang
- chongyun
- xinyan
- Yun Jin
- yanfei
The way to get a free character during the second Lantern Rite festival is similar to before – players must participate in the Fleeting Colors in Flight festival event to accumulate Talismans of Affluence, Immaculate, and Conquest, which can then be redeemed in the Prosperous Partnerships store for a free four-star character from the Land of Contracts.
The Rite of Lanterns Festival will only take place for a limited time, so players will need to act quickly once it begins. The Fleeting Color in Flight event begins on January 25, 2022, while the Prosperous Partnerships store will open a few days later on January 31. The event and store will be available until February 12, 2022, giving players a couple of weeks to claim a new character of their own.
