How to break the ice in Dragonspine
To break the ice in the Dragonspine area, you must first locate a new type of red rock/crystal called Scarlet Quartz. By breaking this, you will receive a buff by picking up a shard, which allows you to break the ice. However, the buff is only for a limited time, so find Scarlet Quartz next to the ice you're trying to break to reach it in time to crush it!
It makes sense for a mechanic to revolve around breaking ice in the new Dragonspine region, since the entire mountain is a snowy, icy area. If the weather is cold enough to cause your characters to experience a new status effect called Sheer Cold, it's definitely cold enough to freeze other items.

To break the ice shrouding these objects, you must first locate a red crystal called Scarlet Quartz. It's not hard to find as it's pretty much everywhere on Dragonspine. However, remember that it is not actually an item, so it will not appear in your inventory. It's actually a buff to pick up shards of the biggest crystal.
Upon acquiring the buff, it gives you the power to smash those giant ice crystals and it also allows you to smash the ice on the Statue of Seven in Dragonspine. Here's a YouTube video explaining how to do just that:
