Niantic has announced that Team GO Rocket boss Giovanni, who has been absent from the game for months, will return with a new Shadow Pokémon in tow: Lugia! With Giovanni already known as one of the toughest NPCs to beat, we expect the Legendary Pokemon Lugia to only make him more intimidating.

According to the official Pokémon Go A Looming Shadow Returns event page, it was supposed to start on November 9, 2021 and announce Giovanni's return with Lugia. However, the Team GO Rocket leader isn't the only one turning things around. Players will find that when the event begins, all grunts and team leaders will have new Shadow Pokémon that you can save after defeating them.
In addition to the changes to their roster, Team GO Rocket will be showing up at PokéStops much more frequently over the next few weeks. This will be the perfect time for players to explore new PokéStops, earn Battle XP, and collect Pokémon Candy from their new lineup!
